Each morning after a relaxing cooked breakfast. we were all given choices of fishing the river or the lochs with or without Derek. However, one area which Derek urged a collective effort were our trips to the Brunton Stream, a unique feature of the Fhorsa System where salmon are caught on the fly in saltwater.
The Brunton Stream was cleverly
discovered by Clive Brunton in the late 70's and has now made Uig famous the world over as a unique fly fishing destination.
Although we had been told that we were just a couple of weeks to early, as the first salmon is not normally caught until mid June, it did not stem our enthusiasm as we stood like fence posts in the kelp lining the edge of the pool and queuing for turns to fish this unique stretch of water. |
