After we had settled in and agreed who was getting which room with which view, it was time for some serious business with Derek giving us a rundown on the fishing for that evening. The plan of action was to fish the Fhorsa River from Loch Suainaval down through the tidal pool as far as we could with the state of the tide. We had been given firm instruction that it was fly only so armed with trout rods we headed off with our leader. Those nearest the salt water at the end of the evening fared best with at least a dozen half pound sized slob trout for breakfast.  Dinner was to become a splendid event each evening with Eric providing a three course feast at a communal table with lashings of wine, followed by after dinner drinks and endless banter.

Each morning after a relaxing cooked breakfast. we were all given choices of fishing the river or the lochs with or without Derek. However, one area which Derek urged a collective effort were our trips to the Brunton Stream, a unique feature of the Fhorsa System where salmon are caught on the fly in saltwater. The Brunton Stream was cleverly discovered by Clive Brunton in the late 70's and has now made Uig famous the world over as a unique fly fishing destination.   Although we had been told that we were just a couple of weeks to early, as the first salmon is not normally caught until mid June, it did not stem our enthusiasm as we stood like fence posts in the kelp lining the edge of the pool and queuing for turns to fish this unique stretch of water.
